Dallas ISD trustee Lew Blackburn was re-elected board president for another year Thursday as two newcomers were sworn in as members.

The new trustees, Dan Micciche and Elizabeth Jones, are joining the school board during a time of transition.

New Superintendent Mike Miles, who officially starts July 1, has promised to shake up the way DISD operates.

“The board has quite a bit to do in the near term and in the coming years,” Jones said at Thursday’s board meeting. “I look forward to working with all of my fellow trustees to create a world-class district.”
